Valeriano Garcia, PhD.

Dr. Valeriano F. Garcia resides both in Washington DC and in Santa Fe, Argentina. He studied at the National University of Tucuman and later graduated at the University of Chicago (Ph.D. Economics.) He is a specialist in monetary policy, exchange rates, capital markets and micro-finance.

He taught at the universities of Tucuman and Chile and at the “Centro de Estudios Monetarios Latinomericanos”, Mexico. Founded and presided “Fundacion del Tucuman” contributing to the dissemination of ideas related to freedom. He was Principal Economists for the World Bank and later held the position of Executive Director representing Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.

Currently, he is a consultant with private corporations, the US Treasury, the World Bank and the Inter-American Bank. He provided economic counsel to most Latin American countries and worked on projects related to Liberia, Algiers, Sudan, Oman, Seychelles, Azerbaijan, and Lebanon. He has participated in numerous international conferences and published profusely in specialized journals.

His most important books include “El ABC de la Economia” and “Understanding Economic Policy and Political Economy”. Time permitting he enjoys his “Hobby Farm” in Santa Fe, Argentina.
