Remembering Communism's Legacy:

A Guide for the Future?

Communism has had devastating effects worldwide producing both economic and human casualties. The Soviet Union, China, North Korea and Cuba - all are examples of the devastation and decay that is inevitable under the yoke of communism.

During this event we will screen the 30-minute documentary short "Return to the Gulag: Jon Utley's Search for His Father." Following the movie, a panel of experts will reflect on the devastating effects of Communism in Europe and Latin America and its consequences for today.

Speakers:

Jon B. Utley, President of the Freda Utley Foundation. He is Associate Publisher of The American Conservative, a Robert A. Taft Fellow for International and Constitutional Studies at the Ludwig von Mises Institute, and a Fellow with the Atlas Economic Research Foundation.

Norman A. Bailey, President of the Institute for Global Economic Growth. In 1981 he joined the Reagan administration as Special Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs and Senior Director of International Economic Affairs on the staff of the National Security Council in the White House.

Morton Blackwell, President of the Leadership Institute. He served as Special Assistant to the President on President Reagan’s White House Staff 1981-1984.

Marc Wachtenheim, President of W International. He founded and directed the Cuba Development Initiative at the Pan American Development Foundation. Previously he worked at the Economic Development Institute of the World Bank. He has extensive knowledge of Latin America and transition societies.

The presentations will be in English.
The documentary film will be in English with subtitles in Spanish.

Wine and refreshments will be served after the formal program.
